Sacrificing for Bigger | Abundant | Part 3 Our God, the Lord of the universe, tells us that abundant life is found in serving. He says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) In Mark 10:45, Jesus says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” He’s telling us, like He told the rich, young leader, to get rid of whatever is in our lives that has come first before Him. What earthly ideal have we elevated to the place of God in our hearts? Is it our money, social status, power, politics, or material goods? Our God desires to set us free from a life striving for what we can get out of it. Instead, He desires that we would have a heart that asks, “What do I get to give?” When we truly understand the gospel we will be grateful for all the Lord has done for us. When we are filled with gratitude we will naturally overflow generosity. We will delight in giving our time, energy, and money to the people and Kingdom of God. Senior Pastor David Dwight called this a “Three G Christian” — Gospel Gratitude Generosity. All we can truly give God are our hearts. This week, we encourage you to pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal anything in your heart that is before God and to ask Him to help you grow in gospel knowledge, gratitude, and generosity.
